This elegant Morganite is cut into a sophisticated 10.8mm by 7.5mm pear (teardrop) shape with a substantial 5.2mm height. As a member of the Beryl family, this stone showcases a delicate, high-clarity blush that sits perfectly between soft rose and warm peach. The generous 5.2mm depth allows for a deep pavilion, which maximizes the stone’s internal light reflections and prevents the "pale" look often found in shallower beryls, giving it a rich, glowing presence.
The graceful, tapered silhouette of the teardrop cut makes this stone an ideal candidate for a classic drop pendant or a directional statement ring designed to elongate the finger.
Key Properties & Care
Morganite is a "sister stone" to Emerald and Aquamarine. While it is durable enough for everyday elegance, its pastel nature means it requires regular maintenance to keep its brilliance from becoming clouded.
-
Mohs Hardness: Morganite ranks at 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale. It is a hard gemstone that resists surface scratching well, making it suitable for rings and fine jewelry.
-
Cleaning: To maintain its "window-clear" sparkle, clean the stone frequently with lukewarm water and mild soap. Morganite is often called a "dust magnet" because its surface attracts oils and lotions quickly; a soft toothbrush is essential for cleaning behind the stone to restore its fire.
-
Maintenance:
-
Avoid High Heat: While generally stable, avoid steam cleaners. Sudden temperature changes (thermal shock) can potentially cause fractures in beryl minerals.
-
Light Stability: Morganite is generally color-stable, but like many pink gemstones, it is best kept away from prolonged, intense UV exposure to ensure its delicate hue remains vibrant for decades.
-
Ultrasonic Safety: Generally safe, provided the stone has no significant internal liquid inclusions. However, manual cleaning is always the safest recommendation for high-quality beryl.

Storage: Store separately in a soft pouch. Its hardness of 8 means it can scratch Tourmaline (7-7.5) and Quartz (7), but it can be scratched by Cubic Zirconia (8.5) and Sapphire (9).
