Morganite - Round Cut Facet

This exquisite Morganite is precision-cut into a classic 7mm round with a deep 5.1mm pavilion. Belonging to the beryl family (the same family as Emerald and Aquamarine), this stone displays the highly coveted "peach-pink" or salmon hue that morganite is famous for. The substantial 5.1mm height indicates a deep, well-proportioned cut that enhances the stone's natural pastel saturation and ensures brilliant light return, preventing the center from looking "washed out."
With its soft, warm glow and excellent clarity, this 7mm round is a premier choice for a romantic engagement ring, a sophisticated solitaire pendant, or a centerpiece in a high-end rose gold design.
Key Properties & Care
Morganite is a prestigious gemstone prized for its tenderness of color, but like all beryls, it requires specific handling to keep it looking its best:
-
Mohs Hardness: Morganite has a hardness of 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale. It is a hard, durable gemstone that is resistant to scratching and suitable for daily wear.
-
Cleaning: Use lukewarm water, a mild soap, and a soft cloth. A soft-bristled toothbrush is excellent for cleaning the underside of the facets. While morganite is generally stable, it is best to avoid steam cleaners, as the heat can occasionally affect the delicate color or any liquid inclusions.
-
Maintenance:
-
The "Oil Magnet" Effect: Morganite is known for attracting skin oils and lotions more than other stones. To maintain its brilliance, it needs to be cleaned more frequently than a sapphire or CZ; otherwise, it can quickly begin to look "sleepy" or dull.
-
Chemical Sensitivity: Avoid exposure to harsh household chemicals, especially bleach or hydrofluoric acid.
-
Avoid Impact: Beryls can be brittle despite their hardness. They are prone to internal "cleavage" or fracturing if struck sharply against a hard surface.
-
-
Storage: Store your morganite in its own soft pouch. At a hardness of 8, it can be scratched by Sapphires (9) or CZs (8.5), but it can easily scratch Tourmaline, Quartz, or Turquoise.
