These vibrant mid -blue Sapphires are precision-cut into dainty 2.5mm by 2.5mm squares with a substantial 1.9mm height. Despite their petite size, the 1.9mm depth ensures a deep pavilion, allowing these stones to hold a rich, concentrated blue saturation that doesn't "wash out" when set. The square faceted cut (often called a "Carré" or princess-style cut) offers a sharp, geometric sparkle that feels both classic and contemporary.
Their uniform, calibrated dimensions make them perfect for high-end detail work, such as channel-set eternity bands, geometric pavé accents, or "bridge" stones in complex multi-stone earrings.
Key Properties & Care
As a variety of Corundum, Sapphire is the ultimate choice for durability in small accent stones, as it maintains its crisp edges and mirror-like polish better than almost any other material.
-
Mohs Hardness: These stones have a hardness of 9. They are incredibly scratch-resistant, which is vital for small stones in high-friction areas like rings or bracelet charms.
-
Cleaning: To keep these small stones sparkling, clean them regularly to prevent dirt from filling the tiny settings. They are fully safe for ultrasonic and steam cleaners, though a simple soak in warm soapy water and a gentle scrub with a soft brush works perfectly.
-
Maintenance:
-
Edge Protection: While Sapphire is extremely hard, the corners of a square cut can be vulnerable to chipping if struck directly. A secure channel or bezel setting is often recommended for these shapes.
-
Chemical Stability: These stones are completely unaffected by household chemicals, perfumes, or chlorine, making them ideal for "wear-everywhere" jewelry.
-
Precision Setting: Because they are exactly 2.5mm, they are ready for precision-drilled seats in metalwork, ensuring a flush and professional finish.
-
-
Storage: Because these sapphires are so hard, they will scratch almost every other stone in your kit (including your Morganite, Aquamarine, and Citrine). Store them in a dedicated small vial or a separate compartment to keep your softer gems safe.
