Alcohol Lamp

These handy little glass lamps are a simple and practical addition to any jeweller’s workbench. They provide a small, steady flame for gently softening and melting jeweller’s wax, and are particularly useful for warming wax when modelling, carving or making small adjustments to a wax design.

They’re also ideal for heating wax-working tools. A quick pass through the flame can warm a tool just enough to help smooth, shape or manipulate wax, making these little lamps a useful companion for lost wax carving and other wax-working techniques.

Each lamp comes fitted with a 17cm cotton wick, which produces a steady flame that’s easy to work alongside at the bench. Replacement cotton wicks are also available, so you can keep your lamp going for plenty of future wax-working projects.

Simply fill the lamp with methylated spirits, position it safely on your workbench and light the wick to create a convenient source of gentle heat right where you need it. The compact glass design takes up very little space, making it especially useful when you’re working on small-scale jewellery projects.

Safety: Methylated spirits are highly flammable. Use the lamp only in a well-ventilated area and keep it well away from other flammable materials. Only melt jeweller’s wax in a well-ventilated workspace. Never leave a lit lamp or open flame unattended. Allow the lamp and any heated tools to cool safely before handling or storing.
