Amazonite - Tusk

This distinctive Amazonite tusk cabochon is carved into a sleek, elongated shape measuring 24mm by 9mm with a substantial 7.5mm high dome. Key Properties & Care

Amazonite is a variety of Potassium Feldspar (Microcline). While it is a beautiful and relatively hard stone, it possesses a delicate internal structure:

• Mohs Hardness: Amazonite has a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale. It is durable for most jewelry types but should be treated with care to avoid scratches from harder materials.

• Cleaning: Clean gently using lukewarm water and a soft cloth. A mild soap solution is safe to use. Ensure the stone is rinsed thoroughly and dried with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use ultrasonic or steam cleaners.

• Maintenance:

  • Avoid Chemicals: This stone can be sensitive to chemicals, acids, and even certain perfumes or lotions. Apply your cosmetics before putting on your Amazonite jewelry.

  • Avoid Heat and Impact: Like all feldspars, Amazonite has perfect cleavage in two directions, meaning it can split if hit with a sharp blow. Avoid wearing it during heavy physical activity.
