A selection of second-hand anvils, including one traditional blacksmith's anvil and two classic railway track anvils. These are being sold as individual pieces, making them a great option for anyone setting up a blacksmithing or jewellery workshop, adding to an existing studio, or looking for an affordable beginner's anvil.
Option 1 – Traditional Anvil with Broken Horn
A substantial traditional anvil weighing approximately 50kg. The horn is broken, but the anvil still has a solid, usable flat working surface and would be well suited to general blacksmithing and metalworking.
It features both a square hardy hole and a round hole for use with various blacksmithing tools and accessories.
- Overall height: approximately 200mm
- Overall length: approximately 350mm
- Flat working surface: approximately 90mm x 260mm
- Weight: approximately 50kg
- Square and round holes
- Broken horn
Option 2 – Railway Track Anvil with Shaped Nose
A classic beginner's blacksmithing anvil made from old railway track. Railway track makes a surprisingly effective anvil and is a popular, affordable way to get started with basic forging and metalworking.
This one has a partially shaped nose/horn at one end, giving it some additional versatility for bending and shaping metal.
- Overall length: approximately 390mm
- Width: approximately 120mm
- Height: approximately 110mm
- Working surface: approximately 390mm x 65mm
Option 3 – Railway Track Anvil
Another classic railway track anvil, offering a simple, sturdy and affordable introduction to blacksmithing. The substantial section of solid railway track provides a durable working surface for hammering, bending and shaping metal. It also has 2 holes through the sides which can help with mounting.
- Overall length: approximately 390mm
- Width: approximately 120mm
- Height: approximately 110mm
- Working surface: approximately 390mm x 65mm
Railway track anvils are particularly popular with beginners and hobby blacksmiths as they provide a solid forging surface without the cost or size of a traditional anvil.
All three are second-hand and will show signs of previous use.
