Diamond burs are an incredibly versatile addition to any jeweller's toolkit, ideal for shaping, refining, carving, and finishing a wide range of materials. Featuring diamond particles electroplated onto a stainless steel body, these burs offer excellent cutting performance on hard materials including stone, glass, ceramics, enamel, and metal.
Designed to fit a standard 3/32" (2.35 mm) shank, they are compatible with most flex shafts, micromotors, and rotary handpieces commonly used in jewellery workshops.
Available in three styles to suit different tasks:
Conical Diamond Bur - Medium Grit
Perfect for accessing tight spaces, refining details, enlarging holes, and creating tapered recesses. The narrow profile makes it particularly useful for precision work and intricate stone carving.
- Total length: 46 mm
- Diamond-coated section: 11 mm long
- Diameter: 2 mm tapering to 0.6 mm
- Shank: 3/32" (2.35 mm)
Ball Diamond Bur – Medium Grit
Suitable for finer detail work, surface refinement, and finishing after initial shaping. Produces a smoother surface finish while maintaining excellent control.
- Total length: 44.5 mm
- Head size: 1 mm diameter × 1 mm long
- Grit: Medium (120–140)
- Shank: 3/32" (2.35 mm)
Ball Diamond Bur – Coarse
Ideal for shaping, carving, texturing, and smoothing curved surfaces. The spherical head provides excellent control for creating rounded recesses and refining organic forms.
- Total length: 44.5 mm
- Head size: 1 mm diameter × 1 mm long
- Grit: Coarse (80)
- Shank: 3/32" (2.35 mm)
For best performance and longest tool life, always use water or a suitable diamond lubricant when working with diamond burs. Keeping the bur cool and lubricated reduces wear, improves cutting efficiency, and helps prevent damage to both the tool and the workpiece.
