These Green Agate round cabochons measure approximately 8mm across with a gently domed height of around 4mm, offering a clean, classic profile that works beautifully in a wide range of jewellery designs. The stones display a lovely translucent green tone, ranging from soft jade-like glow to deeper mossy and leafy hues, with subtle internal variation that gives each piece a natural, organic depth.
When held to the light, the translucency of the agate becomes especially apparent, allowing a gentle inner glow that enhances its smooth cabochon polish. Their simple round form makes them highly versatile and ideal for stacking rings, minimalist stud earrings, delicate bracelet settings, or small accent stones in more complex designs. The fresh green palette pairs beautifully with both sterling silver and warm gold tones, depending on whether you want a crisp modern feel or something richer and more organic.
Key Properties & Care
Agate is a banded variety of Chalcedony (Quartz), valued for its durability, stability, and naturally beautiful colour variations.
Mohs Hardness: Green Agate has a hardness of approximately 6.5 to 7, making it a strong and reliable gemstone suitable for everyday jewellery.
Cleaning: Clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth or brush. Ultrasonic cleaners are generally safe for solid agates, though gentle hand cleaning is recommended for best long-term surface condition. Avoid sudden temperature changes.
Maintenance:
Durability: Agate is non-porous, chemically stable, and resistant to most everyday wear, making it an excellent choice for regular-use jewellery.
Surface Finish: The fine microcrystalline structure allows for a smooth, glossy polish that enhances the stone’s translucency and depth of colour.
Storage: While durable, Agate can still be scratched by harder gemstones such as Sapphire or Diamond, so storing separately in a soft pouch or lined box is recommended.
