Ruby - Rose Cut

These stones feature a flat base and a faceted dome that maximizes the light play within the deep, vibrant red Corundum. The varying dimensions and organic, slightly uneven shapes give the set a bespoke, collected feel, while the generous surface area provides a luminous canvas for its intense color. Ruby is a variety of Corundum, one of the hardest and most durable minerals, known for its exceptional toughness and brilliance.

• Mohs Hardness: Ruby has a hardness of 9. It is an exceptionally hard and sturdy gemstone, offering superior resistance to daily scratching and scuffing, making it one of the most reliable choices for daily jewelry.
• Cleaning: This stone is easy to care for. You can clean it with warm soapy water and a soft brush. While the stone itself is often safe for ultrasonic cleaners, avoid steam cleaners as the common heat treatments used to enhance ruby color can be stressed by rapid temperature changes.
• Maintenance:
  • Durability: Ruby is chemically stable and extremely tough, making it resistant to perfumes and most household chemicals. However, please note that most rubies are heat-treated to improve color, which does not affect durability but makes caution with high heat necessary.
  • Surface Finish: Because of the rose-cut faceting, it takes a high polish that offers excellent fire and brilliance even at its shallow height.
• Storage: At a hardness of 9, Ruby can easily scratch nearly all other gemstones, including Sapphires (9) and Topaz (8). It must always be stored separately in its own cloth pouch or a dedicated compartment to protect your entire collection.
