Rutilated Quartz - Oval

These Rutile Quartz cabochons measure approximately 11.5mm by 8.8mm with a domed height of around 5.5mm, offering a compact yet striking gemstone filled with vivid internal detail. Within the clear Quartz body are abundant needle-like rutile inclusions in warm orange to golden-orange tones, creating energetic, flame-like patterns that seem to radiate through the stone. The inclusions vary in density from piece to piece, forming natural bursts, fine threads, and clustered “sprays” that give each cabochon a completely individual character.

Despite their smaller scale, these stones still carry impressive visual impact, with the polished dome enhancing the depth and brightness of the inclusions. When light passes through, the orange rutile catches and reflects it beautifully, giving a sense of movement and warmth within the crystal.

Their versatile oval size makes them ideal for finer statement rings, detailed pendants, or accent stones in more intricate jewellery designs where a touch of brightness and texture is desired. They pair especially well with warm gold tones, but also create a striking contrast when set in sterling silver.

Mohs Hardness: Rutile Quartz has a hardness of approximately 7, making it a durable gemstone suitable for everyday jewellery use.

Cleaning: Clean gently using warm soapy water and a soft cloth or brush. Ultrasonic cleaners are generally safe for Quartz, though hand cleaning is preferred to maintain the polish and clarity.

Maintenance:
Durability: Quartz is highly stable and resistant to scratching, while the rutile inclusions are naturally enclosed and require no special care beyond normal handling.
Surface Finish: The cabochon polish enhances both the clarity of the Quartz and the vivid orange rutile inclusions, allowing the internal structure to appear bright and dimensional.
