These stunning Rutile Quartz cabochons are available in two elegant shapes - an elongated oval measuring approximately 24mm by 14.5mm by 7.7mm high, and a graceful teardrop measuring approximately 23mm by 16mm by 7.5mm high.
Both stones feature spectacular golden rutile inclusions suspended within clear natural Quartz, creating dramatic internal landscapes that shimmer and shift in the light like fine strands of spun gold.
Each cabochon is completely unique, with dense networks of delicate needle-like inclusions weaving organically throughout the crystal. Some areas appear soft and wispy, while others create bold intersecting patterns that resemble sunbeams, grasses, or threads of precious metal frozen within the stone. The generous dome height enhances the dimensional quality of the inclusions, magnifying their depth and allowing light to move beautifully through the Quartz from every angle.
Whether you choose the sleek oval or the flowing teardrop shape, these gemstones make exceptional centrepieces for statement pendants, bold artisan rings, or collector-style jewellery designs where the natural beauty of the stone can truly shine. Their warm golden tones pair beautifully with yellow gold and brass settings, while sterling silver offers a striking contemporary contrast.
Key Properties & Care
Rutile Quartz is a natural Quartz crystal containing needle-like inclusions of Rutile, a titanium dioxide mineral valued for its brilliant metallic lustre.
Mohs Hardness: Rutile Quartz has a hardness of approximately 7, making it a durable gemstone suitable for a wide range of jewellery applications.
Cleaning: Clean gently with warm soapy water and a soft cloth or brush. Ultrasonic cleaners are generally safe for solid Quartz, though gentle hand cleaning is recommended to maintain the stone’s polished finish.
Maintenance:
Durability: Quartz is highly stable and resistant to everyday wear, while the rutile inclusions remain safely enclosed within the crystal.
Surface Finish: The polished cabochon cut enhances both the clarity of the Quartz and the shimmering brilliance of the golden inclusions, creating remarkable depth and movement within the stone.
Storage: While durable, Quartz can still be scratched by harder gemstones such as Sapphire or Diamond. Store separately in a soft pouch or lined jewellery box to protect the polished surface.
