Split Mandrels

These split mandrels are a simple but incredibly useful bench tool for sanding, smoothing and finishing the inside and outside of rings, bezels and other small jewellery components.

Designed to hold strips of abrasive paper securely in the split shaft, they allow you to quickly change between different grits while creating your own custom sanding tools. Simply cut a strip of sandpaper, emery paper or polishing paper, insert one end into the slot, wrap it around the mandrel, and you're ready to sand.

Available in both straight and tapered styles, each has its own advantages:

• Straight Split Mandrel – Ideal for sanding flat surfaces, the inside of parallel-sided rings, tubes and bezels, or anywhere you need a consistent diameter.
• Tapered Split Mandrel – Perfect for sanding and refining the inside of rings and other curved forms, allowing you to reach a range of sizes with a single mandrel.

Both mandrels feature a standard 3/32" (2.35 mm) shank, making them compatible with most flex shafts, pendant motors and rotary tools.
