Stick - A - Bat

Make wheel throwing easier with Stick-A-Bat, an absorbent, reusable PVA towel designed to help secure your pottery bat while you work. Placed between your wheel head and your usual throwing bat, this clever little studio essential helps create a stable surface for throwing without the need to rely on a perfectly fitting bat system.

Made from soft, lint-free PVA material, Stick-A-Bat has excellent water absorption while remaining gentle and smooth to the touch. It's reusable, easy to clean, breathable, tough and quick to dry, making it a practical addition to your pottery toolkit.

Suitable for use with a wide range of backing boards, including wood, MDF, oil board and acrylic, it's a versatile option for potters working with different bat materials. Simply moisten the towel, position it flat on your wheel head, wet your usual bat and place it on top. The damp towel helps hold the bat in place while you centre your clay and throw as normal.

How to use

1. Soak the towel in cold water for one minute to soften it.

2. Wring out the excess water until the towel is moist.

3. Lay the towel flat on your pottery wheel head.

4. Wet your usual throwing bat and place it on top of the towel.

5. Apply downward pressure to centre your clay, then throw as usual.
